Apply to Serve on an Academy Committee

The Academy is seeking dedicated individuals to serve on various national committees, which provide an opportunity to participate in work that benefits members and, by extension, the public. Serving on an Academy committee is a chance to gain leadership skills, build your network, engage in problem-solving for the Academy, guide the nutrition and dietetics profession, and expand your perspective.

Those interested in serving on one of the following committees beginning June 1, 2024, are encouraged to complete the online application by January 15, 2024.

• Academy Political Action Committee (ANDPAC)
• Committee for Lifelong Learning
• Consumer Protection and Licensure Subcommittee
• Council on Future Practice
• Council on Research
• Finance and Audit Committee
• Honors Committee
• Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Committee
• Legislative and Public Policy Committee
• Member and Student Advisory Committee
• Nutrition Services Payment Committee

The Academy’s President-elect and Speaker-elect make appointments to these committees (except for ANDPAC, for which appointments are made by the ANDPAC Board of Directors) each year in March for terms starting June 1. If selected, you will be notified in April.

Lengths of terms vary depending on the committee and range from one to three years. The work of Academy committees directly impacts strategies and tactics outlined in the Academy’s Strategic Plan. You have the opportunity to make a difference in the direction of research, advocacy, communications, professional development, and workforce demand and capacity for the profession.
