Consensus Statements
Based on a systematic review, a consensus statement is a critical analysis of current facts, data and research literature on a specific issue for which the quality of evidence from the systematic review is limited or weak (Grade III).
Consensus statements summarize the authors’ findings on the specific issue and identify implications for practitioners. Consensus report results are considered preliminary until further research is available to confirm or refute the available science.
Consensus reports are published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and posted on eatrightPRO.org (for as long as they are active).
