Competency Software Resources

This section provides program directors with resources and training materials for use of the new Competency software (formerly known as Competency.AI), which will be accessible spring 2024.

Competency is a competency-tracking software developed by Education Management Solutions (EMS) for all ACEND programs. The software is intended to help programs streamline competency tracking, assist in identifying at-risk learners, and help programs adhere to curriculum data collection requirements as noted in the ACEND Accreditation Standards.

Materials in this section include PDF user guides for the various roles within the software and video tutorials for program directors, preceptors (includes faculty) and students.

For questions related to the Competency software, please contact ACEND.

Your feedback helps improve the software and allows us to better assist your program. Fill out our survey to share general feedback about features working well for you, features that need improvement, and features you would like to see added in the future.

Software Updates

Competency is continuously evolving to better serve your needs with monthly updates. To stay informed about the latest features and improvements, please check back regularly. Your feedback is invaluable, and we are committed to ensuring that Competency remains a helpful tool for your program.

One-on-One Training and Troubleshooting Sessions

To help you get the most out of Competency, ACEND is offering 45-minute one-on-one training and troubleshooting sessions with EMS, running from January to May. These sessions are limited to cover one or two topics about the software features and get personalized support from the software developers. For a general overview or software training, please review the provided training materials on this website, which include recorded webinars, detailed user guides and video tutorials.

Prior to your appointment, please review these Rights and Responsibilities to ensure a productive session.

  • The program director is expected to review the ACEND resources prior to booking to insure a targeted and productive session.
  • Training is intended to cover specific questions related to a function of the Competency solution as opposed to system configuration or LMS integrations. Requests outside of specific functionality will be redirected to ACEND.
  • EMS will review the requested topic and prepare for the training session in advance.
  • Each party has the right to end the call if the other participant has not arrived within 10 min of the scheduled start time.
  • Each party has the right to end the call early if the topic is fully covered prior to the scheduled end time.
  • Outstanding Q&A responses following the training will be answered by EMS and addressed to ACEND for distribution.

When signing up for a training session with Kat Devaney, Customer Support Specialist at EMS, please include your:

  • Program name
  • Program type
  • The one or two items you would like to discuss in the "Add any special requests" field on the booking page

Please note that topics unrelated to Competency's features, such as LMS integration, may be declined.
