Academy Receives Gold MyPlate Champion Achievement

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics received the Gold MyPlate Champion achievement for its participation in the MyPlate National Strategic Partnership and for efforts promoting MyPlate for the inaugural cycle of Partner Recognition Program.

Champion BadgeA visual interpretation of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, MyPlate is the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s official symbol of the five food groups and a quick way for consumers to picture how their plate should look for a balanced, nutritious meal. Per the MyPlate.gov website:

"The benefits of healthy eating add up over time, bite by bite. Small changes matter. Start Simple with MyPlate.

  • Make half your plate fruits and vegetables: focus on whole fruits.
  • Make half your plate fruits and vegetables: vary your veggies.
  • Make half your grains whole grains.
  • Vary your protein routine.
  • Move to low-fat or fat-free dairy milk or yogurt (or lactose-free dairy or fortified soy versions)."

Resources for practitioners to share with clients are available on the MyPlate website, and include graphics, print materials, videos and more.

The Academy will continue to provide its expertise throughout the development process of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2025-2030, and also share opportunities for members to get involved.
