The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is the world's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals, including over 107,000 credentialed practitioners, and is committed to improving the nation's health and advance the profession of dietetics through research, education and advocacy. The Academy works to provide reliable and evidence-based nutrition information to the public, accredit undergraduate and graduate programs, credential dietetic professionals, advocate for public policy, publish a peer-reviewed journal, and fund research, public education, and scholarships.

The Obesity Society is the leading organization of scientists and health professionals devoted to understanding and reversing the epidemic of obesity and its adverse health, economic, social and societal effects. Combining the perspective of clinicians, scientists, policymakers and patients, the Society promotes innovative research, education and evidence-based clinical care to improve the health and wellbeing of all people with obesity. The Society and its members are widely considered trusted resources for the most accurate and up-to-date information about the causes of obesity and effective strategies for its prevention and treatment.

With substantial alignment between the respective missions of the Academy and the Society, our alliance leverages resources and activities to maximize the reach, scope and impact of programs and services. Examples include the development of educational, scientific or clinical sessions; educational materials to support evidence-based approaches to the prevention and treatment of obesity, nutritional disorders and related conditions; and joint policy statements, consensus statements, technical reviews, standards of practice and descriptors of best scientific and clinical practices related to the prevention or treatment of obesity, nutritional disorders and related conditions.
