International Obesity Collaborative

A global initiative committed to addressing the disease of obesity on an international scale, the International Obesity Collaborative consists of 12 international organizations, including the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This collaboration aims to raise awareness, share best practices and implement effective interventions to treat obesity on a global scale.

As a member of the International Obesity Collaborative, the Academy has helped develop stances on obesity care, highlighting the expertise of RDNs in working with a health care team.

The Academy worked with members of the collaborative to release a joint statement on access to obesity care, providing a shared starting point for talking about obesity that is consistent with how other chronic diseases are discussed. This joint statement complements many years of work by the Academy and its members to better understand and treat patients living with obesity.
